In the UK the average age of a construction worker is now 55 years of age!
Whilst there are some really good apprentices and new starters beginning to come through the colleges and company training schemes in higher numbers, clearly we still have a significant challenge beyond basic economic conditions for the foreseeable future of managing effective project delivery.
We all appreciate that site delivery can not be simply replaced by robots and artificial intelligence there will always be a need for onsite works as fundamentally so much we do is bespoke and project specific. Even though the use of technology can be embraced for better communication and inclusivity, simpler product instals and better connected supply chain management it largely fails to be effective in the management and coordination and availability of people to carry out the Works.
The Net result is that as contractors and the whole supply chain we have a lot of work to do to keep educating and up skilling in changing times, maintaining and developing properties and projects.
How we can help as Project Manager's is to look at streamlining the decision making capacity of the Client and their Professional Team so that as Contractors and Suppliers you have the right information or decisions made so you are able to meet your agreed project delivery programme.
On top of this we have decades of practical and organisational onsite experience and lots of contacts for suitable contractors to fill project delivery gaps! We simply seek to work in collaboration where the whole team from the client through their professionals, contractors and whole supply chain are understood, valued, empowered and not feeling out on a limb!
If you have projects you think would benefit from this collaborative approach either as your Project Manager or the Clients Agent then please do not hesitate to give us a call and we will see how we can help you to make the project a success.
